In January of 1993 USA accused the president of Iraq of moving missiles into southern Iraq. When the US accused them of moving said missiles they refused and kept them in southern Iraq. After they refused, USA and some allies began to patrol the No-Fly Zone to make sure that Iraqi forces were not trying to launch a missile attack on another country.
In 1994, Hussein moves his troops again to the Kuwaiti Border. The US deploys about 54,000 troops to the Persian Gulf which causes Iraqi forces to withdraw. After Iraqi forces were moved to Irbil Clinton extends the No-Fly Zone to Baghdad in 1996.
Operation Desert Storm starts on December 16th 1998. The mission was to strike military and security targets in Iraq that contribute to Iraq's ability to produce, store, maintain, and deliver weapons of mass destruction(Mark Gwozdecky)
